Amish Dress Hat - Flat Top

This is the hat worn by Amish men. If you don’t buy this hat, it will be on an Amish man’s head!

This hat is made of steam-formed fur felt in the shop of the local Amish hatmaker. The hat comes with a soft sweatband sewn into the hat. The top of the crown is flat, with slightly rounded corners.

Our hat sizes are calculated using the average diameter of your head. You can calculate this by multiplying the circumference of your head times 3.14 (Pi). This will give you the average diameter.

Standard crown height is approximately 4”+ high and standard brim size is 3 1/2”. Unless otherwise noted, we send the hat with an “oval” shape. This is the standard shape for a comfortable fit for most men. These hats are also available in “round” or “long oval”. You can also make minor adjustments to the fit of the hat by directing steam towards the outside of the hat, just above the brim, and putting the hat on your head while it is still warm and soft. The hat will reharden in the shape of your head.
